Three cards for travellers

23/04/2012

Consumer group Choice spokeswoman Ingrid Just predicts there will be further development in credit cards specifically designed for overseas travel such as the GE 28 Degrees MasterCard, Citibank Plus Transaction Account/Visa debit card and the NAB Gold Visa debit card.

In all cases money can be withdrawn from overseas ATMs and there are no currency conversion or transaction fees.

In the case of Citibank and NAB, to get the special travel cards you have to be an existing holder of specific cards.

GE Money 28 Degrees MasterCard offers a low cost credit card option provided it is used wisely, says Just. Where card holders can get stung is in the interest rate charged on unpaid balances.
