No tax refund for most

30/11/2009

More than half of all taxpayers said they did not get a tax refund this year. 56 per cent of respondents to a survey conducted in News Limited newspapers this week were asked what they did with their tax refund and replied that they did not receive one. Of the rest about half spent their cash and half saved it.

For people with a tax debt, repayment deadlines may be fast approaching right now. “Due dates vary,” said second commissioner Bruce Quigley, “check you notice of assessment to ensure you don’t miss your payment deadline.”
