Suncorp and Bendigo join ATM networks

10/12/2009

Suncorp Metway and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank plan to link their automatic teller machine fleets in a shared network. The banks announced the plan in a media release yesterday.

The two banks have around 1600 ATMs between them. The banks hope to establish the links by March 2010.

The industry rules applying to direct charging at ATM networks, and in place since March 2009, cater to the formation of such networks.

Numerous small banks have arrangements with one or other of the big banks, while National Australia Bank is linked to the rediTeller network that serves many credit unions and building societies.
