ANZ expected to hold rates steady

13/01/2012

ANZ will announce its interest rate decisions for home and small business borrowers on the second Friday of each month. Today, Friday 13 January, the bank is not expected to change its rates.

Bell Potter Securities' banking analyst TS Lim says, “They probably want to wait and see what's happening when other banks start reporting (earnings in February).”

ANZ will make some comment on its funding costs today, possibly foreshadowing bad news for its home loan customers with interest rate hikes later in 2012.
