NAB promises the lowest home loan rates in 2012

07/02/2012

National Australia Bank has pledged that its standard variable home loan rate will be lower than any of its major rivals for the rest of 2012.

NAB's head of personal banking, Lisa Gray, last night wrote to staff telling them the bank was “committed to having the lowest standard home loan rate of the major banks” throughout 2012.

“We don't believe that you should have to threaten to leave in order to get a better deal from your bank,” Ms Gray wrote to staff. “This commitment is available to all existing and new home loan customers on NAB's standard variable rate.”

Almost 90 per cent of NAB's home loan borrowers are on the standard variable rate, which has been consistently the lowest among the majors for more than two years.
