Agribusiness investments to grow in 2006

Investors look set to put up to 20 per cent more into tax deductible agribusiness investment schemes this year compared to 2004-05 when $1 billion was invested, which was double the previous year. $100 million is expected to be invested in Almond projects, up 60 per cent on last year, driven by rising world prices and investors looking to offset tax bills. Timbercorp plans to raise $60 million to add 2200 ha of almonds to its orchard at Robinvale.
