Air New Zealand fares to rise

Air New Zealand yesterday announced plans to increase fares on domestic and trans-Tasman routes from January 12 in an effort to sustain the airline.

Domestically Air New Zealand will increase both its mid-range fare (Super Thrifty) and its one-way fare (Thrifty) by five percent. Other domestic fares, which include its cheapest fares, will remain the same.

On its trans-Tasman network the airline will increase all economy-class leisure return fares by $50, with a $150 increase on the most flexible economy class return fare.

Senior Vice President Sales and Distribution, Mr Thompson, said that the trans-Tasman routes continue to be very important to the airline and services will be maintained.
