Ansett fly Sydney-Melbourne from Saturday

Ansett is returning to our skies servicing the Sydney to Melbourne route with flights commencing at 9am this Saturday.

Stranded Ansett passengers who had commenced their journey prior to the company entering voluntary administration, will be able to return free (subject to available space).

At this stage, there are 32 flights scheduled daily for the next 12 weeks which is up until Christmas. The first two scheduled flights from Sydney are sold out with over 2,000 tickets sold.

Sydney-Melbourne is the only route at this time but more planes may be added to the initial five-jet service next week to cover more routes. Bookings can be made until 21 December 2001 subject to availability.

Introductory internet only one-way fares are available at $99 for sale until 7 October for travel until 22 October (book over the telephone a $5 booking fee applies). This fare is non-refundable, non-transferable and non-changeable. Children under 12 years travelling without an accompanying adult may not use these fares. This fare is also available to Ansett ticket holders who can show proof of their existing ticket.

Other fares available are a three day advance purchase fare of $220 and a full economy of $264 (+3.74 noise tax into Sydney Airport). Check out all fares with the InfoChoice fare selector.

The Government is underwriting the cost of tickets which will mean passengers will get a refund if the re-launch deal collapes and flights don't go ahead.

Ansett tickets purchased previously will not be honoured. No Golden Wing or Global Rewards services available. Water will be available on flights but no catering.
