Ansett’s Hazelton bid accepted
Ansett Australia's bid for regional carrier Hazelton Airlines was accepted yesterday increasing Ansett's shareholding to over 35 per cent. Qantas and Ansett have been locked in a bidding battle for Hazelton with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) opposing both takeover attempts on the grounds that it would result in excessive landing rights at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport for the winning party and discourage competition. Ansett says it looks forward to working with the ACCC over the matter.
