ANZ offers staff a PC & internet connection for $5 a week

Just like Ford, Intel and BHP, ANZ Banking Group is offering employees subsidised home computers and free internet connection. This initiative will cost the bank $20 million over a five year program.

The offer available to its staff initially in Australia and New Zealand and later ANZ branch staff worldwide is the supply of a fully configured home PC system and unlimited internet access for $5 a week over three years.

Employees will receive a Dell personal computer with colour screen, colour printer, CD ROM, speakers and essential Microsoft software, as well as internet access through Free Net.

At a cost of $786 for each employee accepting the offer, ANZ has committed to subsidise the program by $1000 for each PC.

The PC package is designed to help employees and family members become familiar with PC and internet technology, and underlines the strategic importance that ANZ places on e-commerce.
