ASX enjoys a minor listing boom

Another 25 or so companies may list on the Australian Stock Exchange in the last two months of 2004, which would take the number of listings in the December quarter to 51, and the number this year to more than 170. That would make 2004 the biggest year for new stock market listings since the technology boom of the late 1990s. Patersons Securities head of corporate finance Aaron Constantine said investors' were flush with cash in the wake of companies returning money to shareholders through share buy-backs and special dividends.
