ASX says investors still confident
The Australian Stock Exchange's managing director Richard Humphry says local investors are more positive than investors in the US, although they appear to be entering a more subdued trading environment. Share trading volumes are down this February compared with volumes in February 2002.
Mr Humphry announced the ASX has increased its first-half net profit by 11 per cent to $31.4 million. He said the Australian sharemarket has performed “remarkably well” in a climate of global uncertainty, with volumes on the ASX since December 2002 “holding up”.
