Australia attractive to international investment

The Economist Magazine has ranked Australia as the ninth best place to do business out of the world's 82 largest economies. Since the 2002 – 2006 survey, Australia has moved up three places in the rankings which take into account performance in 10 categories including political and economic conditions, competition and investment policy. The ranking now puts us on par with Sweden and the United Kingdom, and ahead of Germany and Ireland. The study forecasts that, over the next four years, an average of $46 billion per year in foreign investment will be directed toward Australia.
