Banks improve internet banking sites
Smaller institutions are struggling to keep their banking web sites functional and user friendly and often have very basic services. Mortgage broker Prosolutions Private Clients has reviewed the sites of 26 lenders and found that the internet sites of the big six banks were very good, with the Commonwealth and St George slightly outpointing the others. Smaller players such as Aussie Home Loans rated poorly. Of the banks, only St George offer SMS or email alerts for balance fluctuations or withdrawals. Credit Union Australia and the Defence Force Credit Union also offer this service. HSBC has integrated its share trading platform with its internet banking facility. This allows users to easily manage their banking and share holdings in one place. ANZ also has a link to its ETRADE platform. CBA and St George offer a secure online shopping facility where participating online retailers ask for a password and security question when a purchase is made using a credit card.
