Be quick to avoid Qantas fare rise
Qantas has announced a fare increase of $10 for one-way domestic fares and $20 for return – but you have two days, until Friday December 1, to beat the rise. The changes come into effect this Friday, however, if you purchase your fare in full prior to December 1 you can avoid the added costs. The changes will also apply to Qantas’s regional airlines, Airlink and Southern Australia. The price rise is due to the escalating cost of jet fuel and follows Impulse Airlines and Virgin Blue’s airfare increases. Despite Ansett’s 3.5 per cent price increase last month – which it retracted after three days after Qantas failed to match the increase – it is expected that Ansett will follow suit and raise its airfares.
