CASA tells Ansett to retrain staff

Ansett staff have not been properly trained to follow and carry out aircraft manufacturers' maintenance instructions, according to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The preliminary results of CASA's review of the airline's aircraft maintenance procedure have identified several shortcomings including staff's failure to adequately document their decision-making and a communication breakdown between engineering and maintenance departments. CASA has recommended that Ansett implement retraining programs to address these problems.
