Choose your own call zone

Telstra is considering a new plan that will allow its customers to pick their calling zone. At present, calling zones have been designated by Telstra, the problem being that customers on border lines may be charged long distance rates for a call to the other side of the street. Mr Doug Campbell, the head of Country Wide Telstra, explained that the State Government’s mapping studies would provide the latitude and longitude required to figure out and provide each customer’s chosen calling zone. Mr Campbell also announced that Telstra was contemplating entering into partnerships with local councils and communities in rural areas as part of a new program under negotiation.
