Companies leaving key info off websites
A survey by Global Reviews of the top ASX-listed companies has found that most have websites that lack key information for investors. The survey listed 400 criteria but found that only four of the top 20 ASX-listed companies reached a score of 70 per cent or higher. The most significant omission was that of information on corporate governance.
Against 37 criteria from the ASX Corporate Governance Council, six of the top 20 listed companies did not score a single point; a further three scored less than 30 per cent. The results of the survey are similar to those found by law firm Allens Arthur Robinson. After looking at 50 company web sites, the firm found that only three provided the level of disclosure required to match the ASX's best practice recommendations.
