Comsec announces automated voice trading

Comsec has invested in local speech recognition software developer Syrinx and has begun using the technology to allow its members to obtain stock quotes and buy and sell stocks by phone without speaking to a human broker.

The software, having been trialled with approximately 1,000 users, will assist Comsec in coping with higher volume trading periods. TD Waterhouse currently have a service, Talkbroker, that allows members to obtain stock quotes, while HSBC InvestDirect allows its members to trade via a touch tone phone. Comsec’s service is the first that actually recognises and acts upon a clients verbal instructions to place a trade.
