Credit card alert over phone-tap scam
Australian credit-card issuers are monitoring a new scam sweeping South-East Asia which involves tapping telephone lines to capture card data. The development of the phone-tapping device follows a crack-down on ATM card-skimming devices. Although the scam has not yet been detected in Australia, National Australia Bank said the bank's keeping a close watch that most online or phone fraud targeting the bank is conducted from outside Australia. Visa also said it's monitoring for any signs of the wire-tapping devices.
