Credit card gang spree brings warning

A credit card spending spree by one of the world's biggest crime syndicates has brought a warning from Melbourne police, who say that fake credit cards cost banks and their customers millions of dollars each year – and the problem of credit card fraud is growing.

Sen-Det Walker says that Australia is increasingly becoming a target because “Australians are too lax with their credit cards” and all users need to be vigilant to prevent their details being stolen. Sen-Det Walker added that new smart card technology is helping to combat the crime.
