Debt troubles for young people and men

A study of consumer debt has found that people under the age of 34 account for more than half of all debts referred for collection. The survey was conducted by Dunn & Bradstreet to find where rising rates and increased debt levels are having the greatest impact. Chief executive officer Christine Christian said that debt problems are most pronounced for young Australians, particularly in outer metropolitan areas. The study also found that men are more likely than women to have debt problems and are less likely to repay their debts.
