Do you want insurance with that credit card?

Australians are being warned about consumer credit insurance policies being sold in conjunction with credit cards and loans. Last week the federal court ordered two insurers to repay thousands of consumers who had unwittingly been sold useless insurance.

David Leermakers from the Consumer Action Law Centre said car dealers and providers of car loans are the most problematic. Salespeople commonly attempt to add the insurance or warranty at the last minute, hoping you will agree on the spot.
