Don’t throw out your old mobile, recycle it

800 mobile phone stores across Australia will participate in a recycling program launched today in a joint effort to reduce landfill pollution. Used mobile batteries, which contribute to groundwater contamination, will be collected by the stores to extract and reuse the metals contained in them. Peter Russell, director of the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association, says old phones still have plenty of life in them and can be used for other purposes.
