Every home to be energy audited

Residential property vendors and landlords will need to complete an energy report card on their property before it is sold or rented under law changes agreed to yesterday by the states and commonwealth political leaders meeting in Hobart.

The report card by an accredited assessor is expected to include insulation and building design and could cost in the range of $150 and $250.

New homes will have to built to six star energy standard which some experts say could add $10,000 to the price of building a home.
