Every woman needs a good savings account

Professor Roslyn Russell of RMIT University said  money and finances are inseparable for many women from their emotional journeys and their relationships.

Some women allow all large financial decisions to be made by their partner and in this can put them at a disadvantage. Mothers often see their money as the ‘‘family’s money’’ while the father’s money is his own.

Women are more likely to spend their retirement in poverty and should therefore consider their own savings needs said Russell.
