Feds favour semi-positive reporting
The Australian government is likely to support recommendations from the Australian Law Reform Commission that will promote a version of "positive" credit reporting. The final report from the ALRC on the plan is already in the hands of the government and must be made public by August 28. The ALRC in a draft report in September 2007 proposed a move to a more comprehensive credit reporting but stopped short of recommending a move to the full positive reporting model that has been promoted by a majority of credit providers.
