First home buyers flood back into market
18.7 per cent of home buyers in the December quarter were first home buyers, the highest proportion in four years. 529,000 first home buyers intend to buy in the next year according to Wizard home loans. The proportion of first home buyers aged between 18 and 24 rose to 37 per cent from 25 per cent in the September quarter. Tasmania recorded a 40 per cent fall in the number of intending first home buyers to 12,000. Wizard said young Australians were deciding that the market conditions suited home ownership.
