First home buyers flooding to property investment
Increasingly, first home buyers are choosing to purchase an investment property before an owner occupied home, according to new data from a leading mortgage aggregator.
About 37 per cent of investors are first time buyers, up from 21 per cent one year ago.
Asked why they became property investors before buying their own home, 27 per cent said they could more easily afford it and 26 per cent said it allowed them to get their foot onto the property ladder. Nineteen per cent said they were buying where they could afford and living where they want.
