Foreign carriers offer domestic fares

United Airlines, Garuda and Cathay Pacific are offering domestic travel in Australia during December.

The foreign carriers are taking advantage of the easing of Federal Government restrictions after the collapse of Ansett.

United is offering $50 fares, not including all taxes and charges, between Sydney and Melbourne which can be booked on its website. Information is sparse on the offerings from Garuda and Cathay.

Ansett has complained to the Government that the foreign carriers are hurting its chances of revival.
