Funtastic Ltd, toy retailer and distributor of Pokemon, the Spice Girls and Barbie toys, will float today offering 26 million shares at 50 cents each. 51.3 per cent of the company will be kept by existing shareholders. Though analysts have pointed out that Funtastic is only a toy distributor and not a manufacturer of the Pokemon products, the company was ranked 24th in BRW's fastest-growing private company list in 1999, indicating a solid business model. Funtastic will be lead by David Hendy, managing director, who was responsible for transforming Bananas in Pyjamas into a global best seller.
