“Get rich quick” seminars still thriving

Australians are still being lured into get-rick-quick investment seminars now being offered by spruikers from the US, says real estate author Neil Jenman. Over the past couple of months there have been letter-box campaigns and advertisements for seminars promising dramatic returns on property and shares. People attending a “free” seminar were urged to supply credit card details for a further workshop costing $5,000. This month, three more seminars are being held in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney – also at around $5,000 a head. The US group has already bagged $3 million from the three earlier seminars and still have the attendees' credit card details.
