Grants to first-home toddlers

Infants and children have been used by Victorian parents to obtain the federal $7,000 first home buyers' grant to buy investment properties. Since July 2000, at least 38 children under 10 and under and 36 aged between 11 and 17 have been registered by their parents as “buyers” of first homes. The Victorian Treasurer has called on the Federal Government to stop the rort over the grant which was designed to help battlers get their first homes.
