Have you checked your credit file this year?

Everybody should be check their credit report once a year say experts.

The Australian Privacy Commissioner Timothy Pilgrim said if someone has stolen your identity or your credit card details, then late payments, new credit accounts and defaults will appear on your credit report.

Checking your credit report annually is just as important as checking your bank statement said Mr Pilgrim.

Consumers can go to CreditSmart.org.au to request copies of their credit file from all three credit reporting agencies.
