Health Fund failing to renew contract

One of Australia’s largest health funds MBF has been accused of trying to lure patients on Sydney’s North Shore away from smaller private hospitals to larger hospitals such as Royal North Shore. The chief executive officer of Harbord’s Peninsula Private Hospital said MBF had failed to renew its contract with the hospital which effectively means those MBF customers choosing to receive treatment from the hospital will not receive gap cover. This could force some northern beaches residents into travelling longer distances for hospital treatment.

Before deciding which hospital to attend it is wise to check with your health fund to see what hospitals the fund has agreements with and to determine whether you will be covered for any out of pocket expenses.
