Higher bank fees and lower interest rate margins

New figures released by the Reserve Bank of Australia show that deposits, loans and payment services in particular incur higher bank fees, however, interest rate margins are lower. Mr Jeff Oughton, executive officer of the Australian Bankers’ Association, claimed that despite the higher fees paid by customers the savings generated as a result of lower interest rate margins are an advantage.
