How much extra interest are investors paying now?

In recent months many banks, credit unions and other lenders have increased their home loan rates for property investors. These rate rises have come as a response to the banking regulator’s demands that risky lending to investors needs to be slowed down.

Now, in October 2015, the average headline variable home loan rate for investors is 5.64 per cent. The average variable home loan rate for owner-occupiers is 0.20 percentage points lower at 5.44 per cent.
