Industry funds and self-managed super the popular option
Rising stockmarket returns and the steady flow of new funds into superannuation through the employer surcharge is working to boost the coffers of superannuation funds. Total superannuation savings in Australia increased by 17 per cent in 2004 to $650 billion. Industry funds attracted more new money than other sectors, with a rise of 28 per cent to $75 billion. Self-managed funds increased by 25 per cent to $143 billion.
