ING Direct hits the one million customer milestone

ING Direct recorded a rare dip in profit in the March 2005 quarter in Australia, but the Dutch-based bank achieved one milestone during the quarter, with more than one million customers on the books. ING’s customer numbers increased by seven per cent over the quarter and by 37 per cent over the year, to 1.06 million customers. ING Direct’s profit in Australia fell by 12 per cent to 15 million euros in the March 2005 quarter, down from 17 million euros in the March 2004 quarter.
