Interest rates set to stay low for rest of 2014
Official interest rates are set to remain unchanged – at the record low of 2.5 per cent – for some time to come.
HIA senior economist Shane Garrett said slightly higher inflation numbers would not deter the RBA from keeping rates low.
“Interest rates need to stay low to keep the dollar in check. Low interest rates are also helping to stimulate demand,” said Garrett.
