Investors take over from first home buyers

The value of investment housing commitments increased by 0.5 per cent in April and has been increasing for the last three years according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The proportion of first home buyers in the mortgage market fell to 12.3 per cent in April from 12.6 per cent in March.
The long term average proportion is about 20 per cent of the new home loan market is first home buyers.
