Levy could fund tourism marketing

The $10 Ansett levy on airline tickets, imposed last year by the Federal Government, could be used to boost tourism after ex-Ansett employee entitlements are paid out, says the Tourism Task Force.

The Tourism Task Force's preferred option is for the levy to be scrapped altogether, but if it continues the funds could be put to good use for marketing by the Australian Tourist Commission and See Australia.

The levy is expected to raise between $80 and $95 million a year.
