Liberal donor gets RBA board seat
Robert Gerard has been appointed to the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia for a five-year term. Gerard replaces Dick Warburton whose term ended in December 2002. Australian Electoral Commission records show that Gerard's company Clipsal Industries donated more than $600,000 to federal and state Liberal Parties over the past four financial years with nothing going to the Labor Party. Gerard is also the chairman of the Australian Made Campaign, a representative on an international trade committee and a member of the Prime Minster's business philanthropy committee.
