Mobile phone dealers target more customers
With the mobile phone industry slowing down, phone dealers are facing tough times ahead and are looking at ways to maintain revenue.
Currently mobile phone dealers are exclusively tied to either Telstra, Optus or Vodafone. These exclusive dealer franchises mean the mobile phone sellers can only sell plans available on the one network. At the moment some of Telstra’s most prominent dealers are negotiating with the provider for the breakdown of exclusive arrangements that would allow them to sell the other providers’ products and boost revenue in a flagging market.
Telstra sets sales targets which the dealers are arguing are too high especially with Telstra’s recent statement that the telco will be focusing on maintaining existing customers. With 65 per cent of the population already owning a mobile phone, new customers are becoming much harder to find and mobile phone sellers need new ways to generate revenue.
