More Qantas NT and WA flights
Qantas Airways is offering extra flights from Perth to Broome, in Western Australia (WA). WA Regional Development Minister, Tom Stephens, says Qantas is adding two aircraft to its WA fleet, possibly 130-seat Boeing 737s, and more than doubling the weekly number of flights to Broome to 16.
He says Qantas will promote the extra flights by offering cheap fares until the end of October, with the usual return fare of $A616 for a ticket booked 14 days in advance expected to be slashed to $A360, although Qantas is yet to confirm the final price.
Qantas has also announced 31 additional airline services to the Northern Territory from 28 October 2001. The new flights will lift airline seat capacity to 80 per cent of what it was before the Ansett Australia collapse.
The services include daily flights between Perth and Darwin, upgrading of the Sydney-Darwin route from Boeing 737 to 767 aircraft, a direct Darwin-Melbourne flight twice a week, and additional flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Ayers Rock.
