NAB launches on-line banking
The National Australia Bank announced the launch of their internet banking facilities this week, the last of the big four to do so, and nearly two year after the Commonwealth Bank become the first major Australian bank to offer transactions over the web.
NAB’s executive general manager, business and personal services, Glenn Barnes, admitted that the NAB had been somewhat slow off the mark, but claimed that independent research showed that the NAB had Australia’s best internet bank.
Currently, the National has 8,000 customers trialing the system, and hopes to have 100,000 users by the end of the year.
Interestingly, the NAB’s internet banking service also offers the “pay anyone” feature, allowing users to transfer funds to any Australian bank account. So far, only St George’s internet banking platform offers this service.
