NAB without insurance for Irish bank heist

Thieves robbed National Australia Bank of $50 million at the bank’s Northern Bank subsidiary in Belfast, a cost the bank will have to wear as it does not have any external insurance against bank robberies. The elaborate and violent heist is one of the largest bank robberies, by value, in Britain. NAB said the theft would not have any material impact on the sale of Northern Bank to Denmark's Danske Bank, expected to be completed by the end of March 2005.
