New airline seat reduces DVT risk
American aerospace supplier Goodrich Corp has unveiled a new-design airline seat at the Paris Air Show which it claims reduces the risk of deep vein thrombosis. It says specially-contoured material used in the design eases seated pressure on certain parts of the body by up to 50%. Also, the design encourages better posture, reducing muscular fatigue. Collectively, these improvements result in decreased pressure on the deep veins in lower parts of the body, easing the risk of DVT, the company claims.
