Not all funds will be apples

Chant West Financial Services, a consultancy, has started to publish ratings on superannuation funds which they claim will assist consumers pick and choose between funds. The company said it was inappropriate to compare funds that catered to small super plans with funds that catered to large plans, because the services and features funds offered were tailored for a specific type of superannuation plan. Chant West is using an “apples” rating system rather than “stars”. Funds do not pay to be rated, but must pay a fee if they want to use the rating to promote themselves.
