Not all rates are on hold
The Reserve Bank has left official interest rates on hold for March, meaning variable home loan rates will stay around the 6 to 6.5 per cent mark for another month, and probably sometime longer.
But interest rates are on the move in other areas. Fixed home loan rates have been falling steadily this year and have reached record low levels.
It's now possible to lock in for three and five years at rates below the standard variable rate. This situation usually only occurs for brief periods at the bottom of the interest rate cycle.
